IN MEMORY OF
Ch Klondike's Orlo Il Taglio
who left us unexpectedly
on June 29, 2007 at age 4
Mostly, I would like to
be remembered
As someone who was passionate
for life.
The days of unsought ecstasies
are numbered,
However long we linger in the light.
I was one who cultivated wonder,
Less of one contented to explain,
Delighted by the promises
of hunger,
Enduring for their joy the years
of pain.
Gifts I had aplenty: Some I savored,
Others sacrificed for others' needs.
Remember me as someone who
was favored,
Gave joy in every of my deeds.

BAGGAGE
By Evelyn Colbath
Now that I’m all home, bathed,
settled & fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm
new bed,
I’d like to open my baggage
lest I forget,
There is so much to carry, so
much to regret.
Hummmmm, Yes, there it is
right on the top,
Lets unpack Loneliness,
Heartache and Loss.
And there by my leash hides
Fear and Shame,
As I took on these things I
tried so hard to leave,
I still have to unpack my
baggage called Pain,
I loved them, the others,
the ones who left me,
But I wasn’t good enough,
for then didn’t want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my
things & take me right back?
Do you have the time to help
me unpack?
To put away my baggage, To
never repack?
I pray that you do, I’m so tried,
you see.

DOG
There is a story told by the American Indians
That the Great Spirit
decided to divide
the worlds of animal and man
So he gathered all the living
beings on a great plain And drew a line in the dirt.
On one side of the line
stood man ---
On the other side stood
all of the animals---
And that line began to open up
into a great crevasse -
And at the last moment before it became unreachable,
Dog leapt over and stood
by man.
